Whether you’re after a cheap beard trimmer or want to get your hands on the latest vacuum beard trimming technology – there’s something for everyone, however deep your pockets are, and our job is simple, to help you find the best beard trimmer.

best beard trimmerRecently, the beard trimmer market has exploded, the rise of the beard has definitely made its mark, you can’t nip to the local shops without bumping into a modern day gentleman. But, it’s no good having those bearded locks flow if you haven’t got the best beard trimmer to maintain it.

Now, we understand greatly the immense love you will have for your beard, so we don’t do beard trimmer reviews lightly, we do our research, we dig deep and we bring you everything you need to make the correct decision. Whether you’re after something to whip round your face in the office toilets or you want to hit two birds with one stone and grab yourself a waterproof beard trimmer for the shower, we’ve got the information for you.

There are several factors to focus on when looking to buy.

Blade type

The blade on your trimmer is what will be touching your face, and hair so the quality of this part is extremely important. Blades are usually made with some type of coated metal like silica or titanium so that they are protected against corrosion and stay sharp with use. Other blades that don’t really require coating are stainless steel blades. You may also want to buy a trimmer with self-sharpening blades or ones that are self-oiling. These features just make it easier to maintain the trimmer.

Length Settings

If you are a man who likes to shake things up every occasionally, and take your thin stubble to the next bearded level, then a wide range of length settings available on your trimmer may be important. The settings on the units discussed in this article range from .4mm to 18mm to cover a very wide variety of beard coarseness. A .4mm will allow you to trim down to a fine, rugged looking stubble while the 18mm will tame that thick bush on your face.

Battery

The type of battery is important in how it keeps a charge and how long it takes to get from 0 to a full charge. If you travel a lot, then a rechargeable lithium battery that gives the maximum amount of juice while cordless will be the best option for you. If you are always using your trimmer in the same place, then a battery that can be charged while using the unit on your face may be right for you.

Design

The design of a trimmer can take a lot of things into consideration like shape of the handle, digital display and other design features that are meant to enhance your trimming speed and accuracy. Some units will have a one-touch feature where you can make your adjustments on a display without turning a dial. Others feature a knob on the side or front to make length adjustments. A very cool design feature on some trimmers is the built-in vacuum that sucks up excess hair as you are trimming to reduce the mess. Any design enhancements are going to cost more money, so it really depends on what you need and are willing to pay.

Cleaning

If you know that you aren’t the type to mess around with a brush to remove excess hair or spending a lot of time taking the trimmer apart to clean it, then getting a trimmer that can be submerged in water might be your best option. This means that you can wash it on the fly while you are in the shower or at the sink. Another great option is getting a trimmer with a vacuum which takes care of 90% of the mess for you.

BaByliss for Men iStubble Plus

The cutting effectiveness of any stubble trimmer is as good as its blade construction. The i-Stubble features ultra-sharp and durable blades. The blades have been formed electrochemically to give them that extra sharpness and resilience.

Majority of buyers who have used the i-Stubble speak highly of it. Many customer reviews highlight the positive sides of the trimmer, from its ease of use to the good range of cutting lengths. A few reviews claim that the shaver breaks down too quickly, but keep in mind that this will ultimately depend on how you use it. By following the instruction manual and manufacturers recommended maintenance practices, the i-Stubble can last for a long time.

Blades

The blades on the iStubble are “electro-chemically sharpened” to give the quickest and most precise trim the first time around. The built-in comb works with the blades to move the hair close to the blade for the most exact cut without skin irritation or hair pulling. The blade and trip of the unit is curved so it follows the shape of the face which eliminates friction that can cause bumps on the face and gives you a cleaner, closer trim.

Length settings

This trimmer has 15 precision length settings called “i-Stubble technology” that will give you the ability to trim the smallest amount of stubble at .4mm to a medium sized beard at 5mm. The settings can be adjusted on the front display with one touch. If you set the trimmer to a length and end up really liking it for every day grooming, then the memory function will keep those settings for you so you don’t need to remember. This trimmer also has a “comb guide” that automatically adjusts the unit for the exact length you want.

Battery

This trimmer uses a “dual-battery” system that gives a more powerful and faster trim and can be used as a cordless or corded trimmer. The battery takes 90 minutes to charge and provides up to 45 minutes of continuous cordless use.

Design

The “floating contoured head” follows the angles and curves of the face so the shave is comfortable and irritation free. The body is designed to be comfortable and easy to use, featuring a one-touch digital display on the front of the trimmer. This display allows you to choose your length and level and then lock that choice in so there is no chance of accidental switching of settings while you are trimming.

Cleaning

This trimmer is unable to be immersed in water so cleaning requires a brush to dislodge any stubble stuck in the blade. You can remove the blades to make cleaning the head easier but always make sure the unit is completely unplugged before you do this. The blades can be rinsed but will require oiling after being cleaned. You may want to make sure the blades are completely dry before you do anything to them by leaving them to dry on a towel.

Warranty

• Three-year warranty

Pros

  • Electrochemically formed blades that bolster sharpness and resilience
  • Provides the flexibility of cordless and corded use
  • Washable trim head and auto-lube system makes cleaning and maintenance easy
  • Designed with lightweight body, sliding on/off button and turning length adjustment dial for easy handling
  • Quiet Motor

Cons

  • Does not come with trimming accessories like mustache and beard combs. However, one can choose to purchase suitable add-ons separately.
